smart farming | field inventory | data logging | advisory platform

The OLA FMIS is a hybrid mobile application designed to provide core features of a Farm Management Information System (FMIS). Created as a proof-of-concept prototype using open-source technologies, it aims to assist farmers with minimal digital experience. The app’s simple yet functional interface makes smart farming accessible by offering practical tools for day-to-day farm operations. With OLA FMIS, farmers can digitally manage their field inventories, maintain a farming calendar, track inputs and observations, and engage in online consultations with farm advisors.

The system was tested in a real-world scenario involving year-round cultivation monitoring and agronomist supervision at two olive farms in the Heraklion prefecture, in Crete. Over the course of a full agricultural season, participating farmers used the app to record data on their cultivation practices. This allowed agronomists to provide evidence-based guidance and technical advice, helping farmers make informed decisions for improved farm management.
